Celebrating the 2026 Sinhala & Tamil New Year Together

As the sun transitions and the familiar call of the Koha echoes across Sri Lanka, the atmosphere at Neo Solution transforms. The Sinhala and Tamil New Year is not just a marker of time; it is a celebration of prosperity, cultural harmony, and the collective strength of our community.

2026 has already been an incredible year of pushing technical boundaries, from developing large-scale ERP systems to pioneering new backend architectures. But before we dive into the next quarter, we paused to honor our traditions, share a meal, and celebrate the bonds that make our team truly exceptional.

Lighting the Lamp and Sharing the Kevum

The day began by observing the auspicious times. Dressed in traditional attire, the team gathered around the beautifully arranged Avurudu table. Lighting the traditional oil lamp symbolized bringing light and fresh energy into our workspace for the coming year.

No Avurudu celebration is complete without the food. The office was filled with the sweet aroma of freshly prepared Kokis, Kavum, and Milk Rice (Kiribath). Sharing these traditional sweets across our desks was a wonderful reminder of the rich cultural tapestry that makes up our workforce.

Team Spirit and Avurudu Games

We know how to build robust enterprise software, but Avurudu games tested an entirely different set of skills! The afternoon was dedicated to traditional games. Whether it was the intense focus required for placing the eye on the elephant (Aliyata Esa Thabima) or the team coordination in the lime-and-spoon race, the competitive spirit was alive and well.

It was particularly fantastic to see our interns stepping up, not just taking the lead on their projects this year, but bringing unmatched energy to the celebrations. It’s moments like these that solidify the mentorship and camaraderie we value so highly at Neo Solution.

Looking Forward

As we clear the plates of sweets and head back to our IDEs, we carry the warmth of this celebration with us. The Sinhala and Tamil New Year reminds us of the importance of renewal. We are refreshed, refocused, and ready to tackle the complex technical challenges that lie ahead in 2026.
